Peak+ was founded — then as Evaporcool — with a single audacious goal: become the U.S. market leader in adiabatic pre-cooling by building technology that actually delivered on its promise. Years of studying the HVAC industry's unfulfilled potential in evaporative pre-cooling shaped a distinctive system design from the outset.
Kemmons Wilson Companies joins as equity partner
A pivotal vote of confidence came in 2014 when Kemmons Wilson Companies — the Memphis-based family office founded in 1948 and best known for establishing the Holiday Inn hotel chain — joined Peak+ as an equity partner. The backing of one of America's most storied entrepreneurial dynasties brought not only capital but the credibility and long-term perspective of an organization built on identifying durable, scalable ideas. It was an early signal that the technology had legs well beyond its founding market.
Southern California Edison — proving the technology at scale
Southern California Edison selected our adiabatic pre-cooling system as their premier HVAC energy efficiency technology, commissioning a program to reduce 20 megawatts of peak electric demand across the greater Los Angeles basin. Fulfilled across nearly 150 commercial and industrial buildings, the contract didn't just prove HALO worked — it helped establish adiabatic pre-cooling as a credible, bankable technology in the U.S. market.

The data also deepened our commercial understanding. Our Executive Team
Chris Curry
Chris has a combined 20 years of leadership and energy industry experience. Prior to his time at PEAK+, Chris was the Vice President of Business Development at NRG Energy, Inc. where he originated contracts for new gas-fired generation and battery storage technologies. Chris is a U.S. Army veteran with operational deployments to Kosovo and Iraq. He has a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
Steve Dixon
Steve focuses his efforts on building strategic partnerships for PEAK+. Steve is a serial entrepreneur having raised venture capital across the cleantech space with more than $12M raised to date. He has 29 years of successful P&L responsibilities including managing sales, operations, account management, marketing, channel and consulting teams.
Nathan Short
Nathan Short has been an Engineer with PEAK+ since 2012. He started as an intern in the Engineering Department, and has worked on virtually every side of the engineering of the system including Pricing, Modeling, Data Analysis, Design, Field Operations and R&D. Nathan graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Christian Brothers University in 2013, and received his Tennessee Professional Engineering License in 2018.
Josh Hall
Josh focuses on strategy, finance and operations for PEAK+, drawing on a diverse set of professional experiences that include accounting & finance work for The Carlyle Group, management consulting with Deloitte Consulting, LLP, and corporate strategy & sustainability for Indigo Ag. He has a B.S. and M.S. in Accounting from Southern Methodist University and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.

Kemmons Wilson Companies is a third-generation, single family office established in 1948 by Kemmons Wilson. Most noted for founding Holiday Inn Hotels, Kemmons was a serial entrepreneur who never stopped creating or investing in businesses. Having owned, operated or partnered with people in over 400 ventures to date, the third generation helps lead the company today with a concentration in six (6) key industries: aviation, financial services, hotels, insurance, real estate and time sharing but are also open to opportunities outside these areas. They continue to exemplify the same core values, people-first philosophy and long-term perspective that our predecessors instilled.
